Understanding Alzheimer’s Disease

Receiving an Alzheimer’s disease diagnosis can leave many family members and loved ones wondering what to expect. While the disease progression is typically gradual, understanding the different stages and the science behind the condition is helpful for family caregivers who can prepare and adjust their care approach accordingly.

As your partner in care, ComForCare wants to support your journey with Alzheimer’s through education and specialized in-home care. People with Alzheimer’s have unique needs and can continue to live at home through the end of life. Even an extension of six to 12 months at home can be highly beneficial.

In this 20-minute video, you will learn about the science behind Alzheimer’s, such as how the disease affects neurons and impacts memory, language and social behavior. You’ll also receive insights into the three stages of dementia, what you can expect at each stage and care strategies that can create better days.
