Meet the Owners
Preston and Peter opened ComForCare in 2002 in Wilson. Preston is an attorney who practiced law in Indiana for several years, wrapping up her legal career in March of 2019. She has worked full-time at ComForCare from day one when she was their only employee, thus over the years she has worn every hat possible to build their home care agency from the ground up. Preston has watched ComForCare grow from a “one woman operation” to an agency that has now employed over 1050 caregivers and provided care for more than 1100 families. Throughout their 19 years in business, Preston and Peter have won several key awards, including being named the “Franchise of the Year” followed by the “Leadership Award the next year.
But their proudest accomplishment came in 2018 when one of their long-time caregivers, Shirley Norwood, was recognized as “Caregiver of the Year” by the entire ComForCare organization, beating out over 1500 other Caregivers nominated by the other ComForCare Agencies. Shirley continues to provide compassionate care for ComForCare clients today, making this her 17th year with ComForCare.
Locally, ComForCare has been voted “Favorite Home Care Agency '' three years in a row by the readers of the Wilson Times. In addition to her role at ComForCare, Preston always supports her local community. She served on her girls’ PTO for years in many capacities, including President. She served on the Board of Directors for the Arts Council of Wilson and is currently serving her third term on the Board of Directors for the Wilson Education Partnership and is currently their Treasurer.
While Peter works full time as a mechanical engineer, he still is very much a part of ComForCare on a daily basis, even if it is mostly behind the scenes, handling all accounting and financial matters, as well as providing the entire team with valuable support and feedback on a regular basis. Preston and Peter have identical twin girls who are students at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and they are the loves of their lives. To this day Preston’s favorite part of owning ComForCare is providing practical solutions for families who want to make it possible for their loved ones to age in place in the safety and comfort of their own homes. She still loves getting to know their clients, their families and takes pride in the care her team provides them.
