Corliss Williams cared for her mother-in-law for about a year. Maintain her quality of life was Williams' main goal. She brought in groceries, paid bills, and generally saw to the daily details required to maintain independence. Williams' mother-in-law had lived on her own for some time and had even played tennis up until she took a fall at the age of 74.
"You don't realize that they are deteriorating when you are close to a situation, it is easier to be in denial." Williams said.
Corliss' is personally affected by Dementia. Her own mantra,
"The key to helping is knowing that
the beauty is still there."
