The DementiaWise® program teaches a person-centered approach to care that uses behavioral interventions to help people with dementia continue to live at home, where they are most comfortable and content.
The DementiaWise® program emphasizes compassionate, practical strategies to support persons at all stages of dementia. All of our caregivers are DementiaWise® certified. They receive continual training to ensure the newest techniques for providing dementia care are always incorporated into our clients' routines. Specialized Dementia Care Services
When a loved one’s abilities begin to diminish, you can turn to ComForCare NW Pittsburgh. Prior to starting any care services, our registered nurse and other intake staff conduct an in home assessment. We will determine what services would be most beneficial for your loved one and set up a schedule that works for you. We always do a fall risk assessment of the home environment, and make recommendations for changes if we see the need, to eliminate the risk of injury. Safety is always our number one concern.
When providing dementia care services our caregivers can offer assistance with:

- Incontinence care
- Meal preparation
- Daily routines
- Maximizing independence
- Companionship and social interaction
- Safety supervision and medication reminders
Meaningful Activities for Cognitive Stimulation
Activities of daily living, such as eating, dressing and bathing, are essential for good health. However, Meaningful Activities such as board games, community outings, and music can bring people joy and purpose.
Music activates the part of the brain where memory lives. Our caregivers use Meaningful Activities to provide positive sensory, intellectual, cognitive, and social stimulation, enhance relationships, stimulate past memories and more. Encouraging activities such as these keeps a person engaged, energized, and active. Our loved ones with dementia will have better days, which brings joy to all our lives.
We will give you the support you need and the peace of mind you deserve so you and your loved one can live your best life possible. Caregivers are available for as little as a few hours a week up to 24 hours a day, seven days a week (including holidays).
