We Make Sure You Receive Your VA Benefits

ComForCare’s commitment to veterans extends beyond the walls of your home. A strong support system is crucial to well-being, so we offer a comprehensive approach to veteran care. VA In-Home Care FAQs

Who Is Eligible for the VA In-Home Care Program?

Veterans who need help with daily activities (ADLs) like bathing, dressing, or eating may qualify for VA In-Home Care through several different programs. These programs include the Community Care Network (CCN), VA Aid and Attendance, and more.

To be eligible, you typically need assistance with at least three ADLs. VA Aid and Attendance has additional requirements, such as needing help with ADLs, being housebound due to disability, or staying in bed for most of the day.

What Services Are Covered Under VA In-Home Care?

VA In-Home Care programs offer various services depending on your needs, including:

  • Light housekeeping
  • Meal preparation
  • Assistance with bathing, dressing, medication reminders
  • Nursing care, e.g., wound care, physical therapy, and medication administration

What If My Needs Change Over Time?

VA In-Home Care programs are flexible. As your needs change, the level of care you receive can be adjusted accordingly. This means you can start with basic assistance like meal preparation and gradually add services like skilled nursing care or physical therapy if necessary. Your in-home care provider will work with you to ensure your care plan adapts to your evolving needs, allowing you to remain comfortable and independent at home for as long as possible.

How Do I Apply for VA Home Care?

There are a few ways to apply for VA Home Care. You can fill out VA Form 21-2680 (Examination for Housebound Status or Permanent Need for Regular Aid and Attendance) and mail it to the VA Pension Management Center for your state. Your doctor can also complete part of the form. If you prefer an in-person application, you can also visit your nearest Veteran Affairs regional office.

What Happens After I Apply for In-Home Care?

Once you submit your application, a VA case manager will contact you to schedule an assessment. This evaluation will determine the level of care you require and the specific services you qualify for. After the assessment, the VA will either authorize services directly or provide you with a list of approved home care providers in your area. At this point, you have the freedom to choose your preferred provider, such as ComForCare, a trusted partner with extensive experience serving Veterans nationwide.
